Taking the Leap: My Motivation for Creating a Product Line and Embracing the Unknown
Have you ever had a brilliant idea that you just couldn't shake off? That was me, until I finally decided to take the leap and turn my vision into reality by creating my own product line. As an entrepreneur, and owner of WaxMe Studio, I’ve always been passionate about building something from the ground up, and creating a product line seemed like the ultimate challenge.
In this blog post, I want to share with you the driving forces behind my decision to create a product line, and the challenges I faced along the way. Whether you're a budding entrepreneur or simply curious about what goes into launching a product line, I hope my story will inspire you to pursue your own dreams and turn them into reality. So, let's dive in!
My idea to create a product line came from listening to my clients needs, and the desire to improve their skin. I was becoming tired of recommending products that delivered little to no results. I thought to myself “If I don't do this..my clients will continue to suffer.” However, at that time the idea of creating a product line seemed impossible. I didn't have the money, time, courage and understanding to bring it into fruition.
One night, I got a sudden urge that I needed to step into my creativity and start a product line. I wrote down a list of ingredients I would like to incorporate into my imaginary products as well as a list of the ingredients I wanted to exclude.
Then came the tough part…What do you do when you want to start something but have no idea how…you Google it!
I started to look for companies that manufactured cosmetic products. At first, my idea was to go through private labeling. If you don’t know what a private label is- think of the items big retailers sell under their own name. In most cases, they get it from a very well known brand and put their label on it. The issue was, I couldn't find a product that I could get behind on. That’s when I decided to take a different route and formulate a product from scratch.
At this point I still had no idea the amount of time, money and resources it would take to go from concept to creation. The only thing I knew was that This. Was. Happening.
After days of research, I found the manufacturer I wanted to work with and I started to share with them my vision for the line.
I had zero idea how to go to market, and since my goal was to sell on a large scale, I knew I needed to find someone that had done this before, had found the success I wanted and that could help me attain the same. One night I was scrolling through Instagram- and I found her. I felt this urge to message her but I was so afraid. I knew that once I messaged her, I had to go through with my idea. I nervously reached out to Jaclyn at #ClosingDay Agency and had a consultation with her. She was exactly who I needed- a fellow Esthetician, just like me who turned her passion in beauty into reality, by also creating a product line and had great success helping big names in the industry (like Kelly Baker Brows) strategically go to market. Immediately my wall came down and we formed a relationship.
With her help, I was put in contact with the right people to bring my idea to life. There was so much I learned through her and I was able to avoid major rookie mistakes.
To anyone considering starting something new, my advice is simple: believe in yourself and take that first step. Embrace the unknown, be open to learning, and surround yourself with a supportive network. The road may be challenging, but the satisfaction of seeing your vision materialize is unparalleled.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and here's to embracing the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
